Default Anyone else having this problem?

So I was washing my truck today and I noticed that my taillight swerve rubbing against the bed side, and scrapped off the paint. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yup, my 12 xlt has it on the d.s. tail light, just not nearly that bad looking... I covered the bared spot with ford touch up paint....

On mine it was only a 1/4" spot thag was rubbing.

How did you notice this, without removing the tail light housings?

Pretty common, but not every truck will have have it, and those that do will have varying degrees of it. Used to see it all the time when I worked at the Ford dealer. I used to repair it whenever I painted a box side. Common on the newer Nissan maximas (or altimas, can't remember which), as well. Repaired a few under warranty.

The housing edge is clear! I noticed it without having to remove mine! But, removal is neccesary for touch up.

I resolved this issue this week on mine. Touched up the chipped areas with touch up paint and then cut strips of xpel that I installed on the front half of the taillight opening.

Same here on my 13 fx. Usually touch it up once or twice a year

Would sanding down the back side of the tail light edge help solve that problem?

Well my problem area is small (smaller than the OP's), so I was going to use a dremel with a sanding drum (or wedge) attachment and just barely file down that one spot on my tail lamp causing the issue. Should be a quick job since mine should require less than a millimeter getting trimmed off of a half inch span of the lamp corner.
