I type the original code(doors unlock), then press 1-2 (door unlocks itself again?) then the code i want right? But it doesnt work, am i doing something wrong here? I could have sworn i can read correctly and have a small amount of know how!

I just want the same code my 93 T-bird had! (the memories )

Try erasing the personal code as on pg 139 of the owners manual and then re-enter your personal code. I had to do mine 2X before it worked. Don't know why. Wifes Mariner worked 1st time.

I know what you mean, but from about 12 years old my moms car (which became mine at 16 an sold it at 20) had the keypad so i have many years of punching the same combo in!

I didn't try this feature until I read your post. I tried it, and it took me 3 tries to get it to work. I believe the "within 5 seconds" requirement for pressing the 1-2 key might have been giving me some grief. Also there is a "within 5 seconds" requirement for each of the numbers in your personal code. They are serious about that 5 second rule. Page 137 of Owner's Manual.

When I followed their rules, it worked OK for me.

It always keeps the factory code. If you forget your personal code just use the erase procedure and then set a new code. Just don't lose that card that came with your truck with the master code.

One of my attempts failed on a "too fast" scenario (I think). I was keying in the codes as fast as I could. Then I slowed it down to 3 seconds between keystrokes and it worked OK.

If that doesn't work, it's time for a trip to your local Ford dealer.

Or just stay with the factory code. Factory code always works, even when you program your personal code.
