Default Air filter

I'm gonna replace my air filter.. And put a k&n in there but I've got a few questions.. My truck is an 09 stx 4.6l v8.. Do I just undo the side clamps undo the hose and unplug the MAF sensor from the hose?? Just wanted to see if that's how I do it or if I need to unplug battery or something crazy?? Lol just wanted to make sure so thanks for any help

Please read post 7 of this thread before taking the dive with an oiled filter.

If you are wanting to reset the ECU when a new filter is installed, unhooking the battery to reset the adaptive learning curves is the way to do it.

I was gonna do the same thing but after some research i concluded that the factory filter is more than adequate, like the above post says its better filtration than oiled filters and it also allows more air through than the engine can use, so changing it to something else will not gain you a thing. Waste of time and money.

Usually not necessary, but doesn't hurt to do so.

Which Amsoil Nanofiber filter model number did you use? I was not able to find one that would fit my airbox. I have a 5.4 though.

Why? Keep in mind this writeup is for 97-03 but the earlier site i linked is for 2010s. EDIT: My bad, it wasnt this thread but a different one I linked it on, but here it is. http://www.f150online.com/forums/art...10-w-pics.html

Something to Consider: Troyer Performance (TP is the leader in F-150 performance and custom tuning) has data logged and has dyno tested all of the aftermarket intakes available for the F150 and has thoroughly documented the results. TP has found that the stock intake runs the second coolest only beaten by the Airforce-1 which TP lists for $239 on his website. With this modification you are getting a lot colder air into your engine than most of the aftermarket intake kits on the market today. It could potentially be colder as well but we wont know for certain until someone data logs the IAT with both intakes.

I've got a 5.4, but it's 2v made in 1999. I don't think you'll want the same one I use.

I don't think they have filters yet for certain models of the 09+, but WIX are available.
