Default Need programing help

About 6 months ago I installed the Auto Headlight switch and sensor on my 2012 STX and decided to wait until the 1st oil change to get them to program them so they would not stay on all the time. The tech hooked up the laptop and showed me that there is no mode to turn on auto headlights. Does anyone know what mode on the computer will turn on the lights. I saw the mode that turns on the DTR's but on or off that didn't make any difference to the Autolamps. Any help would be appreciated.

Likewise, my 2013 STX, as I found to my regret after buying the sensor and headlight switch.
There is nothing in the computer to program the conversion.
In other words, it can't be done.

I had the same response the second time I talked to the techs about my 2011 XL. They explained to me that from 2011 on, the programming of features are now linked to the VIN numbers. They told me that finding a VIN that had auto headlights might would not work. There might be other features that my truck would not have and the ones that I have might not function properly. They had never programmed a truck to a different VIN and they acted like they didn't want to try it. I still don't know how much of that is truth or they just don't want to mess with it.

That is a shame as I love having an STX that has a bunch of upgrades.

Love going to dealer and they trip out when they see STX on paperwork but see all the XLT and higher options.

It has certainly been a while now since I had my 2011 F-250 programmed, but as I recall there are two modules that need to be programmed. One is the body module BCM and the other is the (I think) ICM instrument control module. In both cases, the OPTION was enabled.

On the other hand, build a 2012 STX on line... see if automatic headlamps are an option. If the build switches you from STX to XLT then that is your answer. From my experience, the XL series trucks are questionable for upgrade. Some are if they have the XL premium package (XLT) options while others are not. The STX is an XL with options so it is certainly in that questionable upgrade scenario. The fact that it had the sensor wire in the dash suggests that it is ready for upgrade as that wire is for your photo sensor.

The F-250 and F-150 share the same headlamp switches and same photo sensors.

My 2013 STX has the sensor wiring. However, it still could not be upgraded.

I would love to get my hands on the Ford software and find out what goodies I can unlock on my STX. ;-)

Default Anyone try this?

Hey, I just picked up a 2013 2wd STX and would like to switch over to auto headlamps with the switch and sensor. I've been reading about the lights being stuck on while the ignition is on after the conversion on 2011+ trucks... has anyone tried setting the autolamp delay? Found this info here:

http://www.justanswer.com/ford/7j2hz...tx-manual.html

and here is the pdf on how to set it:

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/AD...5p704867q0.pdf

In case the sites disappear, the guy who answers the question says:

"If you were able to set up the delay that would indicate the BCM is seeing the auto lamps and it should work properly"

Here are the steps to set the delay in the .pdf if that goes missing:

*********
GENERAL PROCEDURES
Autolamps Time Delay Adjustment

NOTE:
The time delay can be programmed through the message center using the message center buttons (if equipped) or using the following steps.

NOTE:
Steps 2 through 5 must be carried out within a 10-second period.

1. Start with the ignition switch off and the headlamp switch in the AUTOLAMPS ON position.

2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.

3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.

4. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.

5. Place the headlamp switch in the AUTOLAMPS ON position. The exterior lamps turn on at this point.

6. Wait the desired amount of time and place the headlamp switch in the OFF position (maximum of 3 minutes). The exterior lamps turn off and the
autolamp time delay is now set.
*********

Curious if anyone with a 2011, 2012, or 2013 STX has tried this yet? I want to order the parts, but I'm curious if this is actually going to solve the problem or not.

I never tried that, on my 2013 STX, and I gave away the parts I bought.
Let us know how it turns out for you.

Hesitant to spend the $$, was curious if anyone else with a 2011+ STX had done the mod and had tried these steps.
