activating sync services
Hey everyone!
SYNC Services offers a variety of information. Here's a link to an overview of what's included:
MyFord Touch: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch
SYNC W/ MyFord: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...-overview-sync
SYNC W/ Voice-Activated Navigation: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...ync-navigation
I, personally, like to use it to check weather and traffic. Let me know if you have any questions.

You can use voice commands, or I (well my wife or other passenger of course!) can use the Sync app on my iPhone to select an address from my contacts, or type in an address, and have it sent to the truck's nav.
.
I'll save some of the leg work.
If you have the MyFordTouch, Navigation, and Sirius/XM - you technically have redundancy on some of the "features" available to you (ie, directions, traffic, weather).
Your Navigation is technically "free" once you have it. Just punch in addresses & go. Updates to the nav I think are another story - but I've had 2 updates since I got the vehicle in 2012 & they've been free.
Then there's the stuff you can pull up IF you have a Sirius/XM subscription. I believe that's available by hitting the "i" button and then going to TravelLink (I may be mistaken here - but I think this is where you can pull up a weather map image, and sports scores, etc) - IF you have a Sirius/XM subscription or something.
Lastly - there's the "Sync Services" that are being asked about here. These are like OnStar type stuff. It dials a phone number, you say a command, and it gives you information back. I've never used it once even though I have some sort of complimentary subscription. More info on Sync Services:

***Sorry if some of my info wasn't completely accurate - but it should be close enough. Anyone else feel free to correct me wherever I might've been wrong.
The bottom line - most people have smart phones with them at all times nowadays making almost all of the above "features" moot. I use my Nav sometimes because I don't want to drain or heat up my cell phone and the screen is bigger. The TravelLink & Sync Services only get accessed when I'm killing time waiting for the wife in a store or something & decide to poke around my touch screen...

- Press the VOICE button and say SERVICES.
- SYNC then makes an outbound phone call to our SYNC Services provider.
- Say which service you want and follow the prompts.
- Once the system has all of the required information for your requested service, the information is downloaded to SYNC and the phone call is terminated.
(Score #1!)
In my opinion, SYNC Services comes in handy even if you have map-based navigation. Let's say you heard about a new cafe and want to check it out but you can't find the address in navigation. All you have to do is summon SYNC Services and get the turn-by-turn directions, or plug it into the SYNC Destinations app on your phone and send it to Services.
(Score #2!)
Another great thing about SYNC Services is it's only $60 a year (unless you have the free subscription that comes on some vehicles... then it's FREE for a year). That equals $5 a month, or 16 cents a day; should you choose to cancel your totally awesome subscription, you'll get a refund for the months you haven't used yet. You can't beat it with a stick!
(Score #3 and 4!)
I hope this helps, but don't hesitate to holler if you have any other questions.
Rebecca
