Default 6.2s

Found a 2011 lariat 6.2 6sp 4dr 4x4 set up how I would like and was wondering if there is any issues I need to know about on them.
Truck looks clean in th pictures has about everything on it and has 58k and they want $35,000 for it.
I was also wondering how the power is on them and what the power rating is on them, I have seen a few different numbers on fuel mileage as well ,this truck has a aftermarket exhaust on it and wondered if a tune and cai would help fuel mileage as well. If it would get a average 15/16 mpg I would be happy with that does everyone think thats achievable, one thing I dont know is the gearing I still have to check on that.

Just have not found alot of info on the 6,2 like there is on the 5,0 or ecoboost motors.

Thanks

Although I have a new F150 on order equipped w/ 6.2, my suggestion is to look for deals on brand new 2013 units in dealer inventory. Aren't too many remaining (especially 6.2) but FoMoCo incentives are better than on 2014 - at least for now. IMO, $35k will buy a lot in a new truck vs that one prox 3 yrs old w/ 58k miles...

If I thought the 6.2 has "issues", I sure wouldn't have ordered mine that way at significant extra cost. Owners will likely chime in soon with real-world experience. IMO, its primarily due to relative scarcity from what dealers order for inventory plus that cost premium that forum members mostly discuss 5.0 and 3.5EB engines. The 6.2 remains base engine for F250 SD (different power band tuning than in Raptor and other F150 trucks).

BTW, you can do your own online search from your zip plus search extended area too (plus specify model year, powertrain, etc) rather than simply asking your local dealer:

6.2 is a good motor. Despite its size it doesn't have big block power down low and instead performs well in mid range. Expect 16/17 hwy and 13 city. It's the least efficient motor in the f150 and obviously the largest. Does sound great and my guess is it will hold its value fairly well since there are so few and they are no longer available in f150 next year.

Coming from a 2010 FX4 with the 5.4 to the 6.2 in the raptor, I absolutely love the motor great hp & tq. I am averaging around 16-17 mpg mixed highway and mountain driving.

It's a nice motor. Drinks a lot of gas though.

Most if not all the low end power problems with the 6.2 are based on Fords junk tuning. The truck has good low end compared to let's say a GM 6.2 truck.... but not with Fords factory pcm tuning. It's not a big block either.... it's only 379 Cid. .. it's not a 460. I know they call it the Boss and a big block... but lets get real here... its not. It's a just over 4" bore with a 3.74" stroke and large valve heads.... and yes it will Rev.

There is no comparison between a 5.0 and a 6.2... none. It's like comparing a GM 5.3 and 6.2... same deal. People shy away based on fuel economy numbers which honestly aren't that far off the other engines Ford uses.

It has very few problems. .. and if you want to see how it does look at the Super Duty because there are thousands upon thousands of them in those trucks. Some 2011 ' s had rocker arm problems and other than the odd startup tick they are pretty solid.
