5.0 Engine Knock
Got a 2013 with about 48k miles on it. I heard the "knock" very faintly this past weekend over the course of about 2-3 days.
I went and filled up my gas tank and I haven't heard it since.
I do have the "lifetime/extended warranty" on it, so I'm not all that worried but at the same time, it sounds bad in such a nice truck...
Hopefully I won't ever hear it again but I'm skeptical because like I said, I just heard it this past weekend for the first time ever...

My 5.0 will tick/knock at random. Sometimes on a cold start, sometimes hot after driving an hour. I have the extended warranty but not even going to bother bringing it into Ford because you KNOW it won't tick when they have it. 2013 with almost 57,000 miles.
Just curious as how many here had mods or not. Like a CAI, etc., I took that stuff off and returned my truck to all stock under the hood and the knock is gone, but the tick on the passenger side is still just as loud as before. Really strange bur good news on the knock.

The drivetrain on my 2012 was 100% stock. I have put about 2000 miles on this new engine and catalytic converters and it purrs! I'm glad it sounds like you got your knock lined out! It was a little nerve wracking giving up a truck with 45000 miles for a long block replacement but I couldn't be happier with the job done by the dealership.
I took mine in as I could hear the faint knock resonating from down low. We did a cylinder deactivation/isolation and compression test. even though we both heard the faint knock the first day we could not tell a difference in the noise. The compression test was perfect and everything checks out. Maybe it is the vct solenoids resonating down the exhaust. Its not a obvious loud sound, you have to key in on it and usually get down low to hear it. It seems to come and go at times. I am done worrying about it though. Unless it gets louder and starts using oil I am going to enjoy it, as it runs very strong and the compression test show that.
