36 gallon tank, how large is reserve?
#11
I filled mine this morning. DTE was 50 and low fuel light was on. Only took 31.3 gallons to fill it. A couple times I've been down under 10 DTE and most I can remember putting in it was 34 or so gallons.

Thanks guys! Since I've been able to put as much as 31 gallons into her logic would dictate I don't have the smaller 26 gallon tank.
Yesterday I was at 20 miles to empty and she would not take more than 30 gallons when gas came out (I was checking I don't over fill regularly).
I can hear the dealer laughing about it now when I ask.
I am not at all sure what to do at yhis point (other than never have her near E again).

I put 34.5 gallons in my 36 gal tank today.
A few years ago some guys reviewing the ecoboost put 35 gallons in a 26 gallon tank by trickling it in very slow. They said that this took an hour to do but they were able to use up all of the left over space that is normally reserved for vapors.

Funny comment on the milkman, I was thinking the same thing!
I've filled up about 36.5 max from memory. That was allowing the fuel pump lever to trip twice. First time it tripped was around 36, 2nd time on slow was at 36.5. I didn't try adding any more.
The DTE calculation in mine sucked the first while. It would always leave a 'reserve' of about 4 gallons. It said I was 0-20 miles to empty but when I filled up all I could get in it was 31-32 gallons. After doing hand calcs and knowing my route I started pushing it, now it is almost dead on. I've drove numerous miles with it reading 0 to empty, but I wouldn't suggest doing it on a regular basis unless you feel confident in either getting gas in a timely fashion/or carry a gas can.
My wife has a 2013 and I freaked her out the first time I drove it past 0 to empty, but same with that, we'd fill up and it'd be around 3-4 gallons off. After I let it go past the 0 the calc's came in better as well, her's is still a bit off, like a gallon or two, but she gets less than a 1/4 tank she's looking for a gas station.
Depending on idle times and the whole switchover from summer to winter fuel blends will screw up the calcs.
Mine did exactly what you are talking about, low oil pressure flashing and such and then I believe it shut down. I had remote started it and then just got in and turned the key on. I checked for oil leaks and everything else, and of course I was almost late for a meeting. Couldn't find anything obvious but I couldn't get it to start. I was parked on a fairly steep slope 13 deg with my front end pointed downhill. Put it in neutral and coasted down to flat ground, then turned the key a few times to not start it but just run the fuel pump, then it started fine with no issues. I actually had just over a third of a tank. Lesson learned, when on a steep slope don't remote start when low on fuel.
Also if traveling with a low tank avoid prolonged grades. That hasn't bit me, but I've kept that in mind when I am out hunting.
