33's or 34's?
Looking to finally level and put some real rubber under my truck. My dilemma is tire size. I hate to totally squash the mpg and power. But, endless searching shows several have lost 1.5-2 mpg from either size. So, is there a plateau where it doesn't really matter? My fear is I take the conservative road with 275 70 18's and wish I had 295 7018's which look better IMO. I do plan on a programmer, cai, and exhaust.

I lost up to 2 mpg with 305/55R20 (33.4-inches tall) Nitto Trails which are quite heavy, and up to 3 mpg loss with taller/heavier 295/60R20 (34.5 inches tall) Nitto Trails. So you may expect less with narrower and/or lighter tires (like an AT). I recently switched to lighter 285/60R20 Duratracs (33.5 inches tall) and seeing an improvement.

Everyone seems to think the bigger tire the better. I have a level with LT285/65-18's on 18x9's +18mm . Slighty taller and wider than the OEM's. Mileage dropped just very little. I like the look.

Go with the slightly wider but taller Toyo ATII's in 285/75/18. I love mine. As you have said, people are reporting anywhere from 1.5mpg-2mpg loss when going with either a 33" or 35" tire. I am seeing a loss of 2mpg in almost entirely city driving with my 285/75/18 Toyo's. you might as well go with the bigger size and call it good. I have a 2013 F150 5.0 with 3.55 gears and I still have yet to purchase an SCT tuner with some custom tunes. I hope to see slightly better mileage once my new tire size is accounted for with the custom tunes. Just my .02 cents I hope this helps in your decision.

Thanks gentlemen. Not overly concerned with mpg. Mainly hate to kill the power. Its like a two edged sword isn't it? I just cant handle the sweetsweeper stance much longer and with tire prices so stupid I want to get it right the first time.

agreed. i was willing to give a little to get a look. i chose 17 to get more meat on the side. these toyos seem to be real nice and more aggresive than i expected. i feel like i got the right "balance" (as Paw Paw so eloquently put it). of tire and wheel. power is still there but it does sometimes feel like i am rolling on fly paper. lol? 11.5" wide tires. i couldn't bear the cost of the lift or i would have gone with the 35"x12.5s
