Default 2014 stx

Anyone driving a 14 stx super crew? im torn between a 14 stx super crew w/ sport package and a 2013 xlt super crew w/ 402a. The price difference is only about $1000. I can get an stx for 30k and a xlt for 31k. I like the center console and wheels on the stx but like some of the features such as 4.2 screen I get on the xlt. just curious if anyone is driving a 14 screw stx and what they think.

It's a whole lot easier to swap that console into the XLT than it is to swap the factory displays.

Do a search for console/jump seat swap and you'll find lots of info.

Also, those wheels come up for sale often.

I got a smoking deal on my STX and I prefer the painted to match bumpers over the chrome of the XLT.

If it were me, I wouldn't get hung up on a screen. Like Sweatmachine, I liked the STX better and if I could have gotten a 13 in a screw, I would have done it. It has all of the amenities I need without the fluff. I really don't need a screen, but that's me.

The only deal breaker on a stx for me is the painted bumpers. They look nice but get beat up with rocks, bugs, etc. But if you are really into the look of painted to match the stx is the way to go.

I'm not driving a 14 but have a 2010. It's not that much different other than motor and the extra inches.

I love mine. I looked at going with the higher trim but I loved no carpet and I always modify my vehicles so having the basic CD player was a no brainer.

I really liked the looks of the STX but the color matched bumpers do get chips, I would get clear film ASAP and that will take care of it.

I don't have the fancy screens but really don't find myself wishing I did even after seeing them in my buddies trucks.

I must've gotten lucky with my STX, I only have like 6 rock chips on my bumper, and it has 43k miles, and just did a 1400 mile trip ½ way across the country, where I got hit with one of those tire retreads!

I've got all kind of screens in my Platinum. Trust me, after awhile it's not that big of a deal. If you like the STX I say get her, and don't worry about the screen. The '14 STX with the sports package is a very nice looking truck. Good luck on your decision.

My STX was getting pelted with rocks apparently. After only 2-3 months I had collected a half dozen + rock chips in my bumper. I had a Clearshield (like the 3M clear bra) applied to the front end at the low low price of $600. Then a rock nailed my windshield. D'oh!

Anyway, if you get the STX (or any truck with a painted bumper) I'd plan on getting the clear bra installed immediately. Next time I buy a new truck it'll have the clear bra on it before I take possession.

Re: The screens. I think the XLT screens look cheesy. Maybe it's because they're the same ones in my girlfriend's Focus hatchback. I think the STX stereo display looks cleaner and simpler, and more truck-like. Buddy of mine has a Lariat with MFT. Now that is a screen! I think he paid about 2x more for his Lariat than I paid for my STX though...not worth it IMO.

As far as rock chips on the bumper I've been lucky. Owned it a year, and knock wood it's still good.
