2013 Sync/MFT Bluetooth Issue
I have my Motorola Droid Maxx HD paired with my Sync System in my 2013 Platinum, and until a few days ago, every time I got a text message on my phone, of course the Sync system would sound the notification and the info would pop up on the Sync Screen. Just a few days ago it stopped giving me that notification. When I touch the messaging option on my Sync screen, it tells me "The paired device doesnt support Bluetooth messaging". Well it did until a few days ago. Anyone run into anything like this? I really dont know if the issue is with the phone or the truck. I still get phone calls thru the Sync system just fine....its just the issue with the messaging.
Anyone got any advice on what I can do? Maybe unpair my phone and start over again?
Thanks for any suggestions..

Here is my guess. Until the most recent update of android there was no support for text messages or artist and song names over Bluetooth. Phones like yours, or the S4 and others had mixed bag of these features likely due to custom software added by the phone manufacturer. Of course google owns moto now but what I think is happening is the addition of native OS support for these features has broken the third party implementation.
Not to rub it in but Nexus devices now have both these features and hence my hypothesis.

Delete the phone from Sync and delete Sync from the phone just as if you have never paired it with the truck prior. Go through all the rest of that process and when your phone gets a popup asking for permissions, it will do two different ones.
1. For contacts and call history, etc
2. For text message support
Make sure you say yes to both and you should be fine. I had a Galaxy Note 2 and it would periodically stop doing the text notifications and this fixed it. My current Note 3 has not had this issue come up yet.

Thanks for all the input guys. First thing this morning I unpaired the phone and went thru and paired it all over again, and now everything is working fine. Still not sure what caused it to happen in the first place, and may never know. (Maybe it caught me looking at pics of the 2015 F-150 and got pissed) But it was simple fix...all is well.
Thanks again to everyone.

Mine was working and now it is intermittent. I don't really care though because I didn't like the messaging any way. Yesterday driving home I couldn't make phone calls so I had to disconnect and reconnect the phone and then it started working again. I was pretty happy with Sync for the first couple of months but it is starting to show its true colors now.
I understand it is difficult to keep up with new versions of android but still, it kinda sucks.
I wish ford would drop MS and switch to Google like Audi is doing.

Next time you're away from your vehicle, try removing the battery from your phone for about three minutes. This resets the Bluetooth chip and reduces the chances of any interference from cropping up. If the issues persist, a Clean Pairing/Master Reset would also improve your connectivity:
