Default 2013 remote start

I just bought a 2013 f150 and do have a problem with my remote start. I put a new battery in it and tried it and the red light flashed and now it doesn't even flash. I put another battery in it and did the same thing. Any ideas?

Separate fob I take it, with just one button for the remote start. Like the picture?

Ok, that's the old two way long range transmitter.
To activate it, you have to hit the Remote start button (circle arrow) 2x (two times).
If you go to fast or to slow, it will not work. You have to hit it twice, just right, it's a pain!

I have the same remote for my 12 and it works pretty good. Anytime I touch the black arrow button, the red light goes on. If no light, it's not going to work no matter what you do.
Here are a couple simple things to check;
Are you using battery #2032
Is battery installed correct? When installing the battery into the lid, the numbers should be down

Also, I don't press it twice to start like mentioned above. I hold the black button down for 3-4 seconds. While holding down, the red light blinks real fast. Truck starts. The 2 way part...Same black button will be lit up around the perimeter, and the fob will also beep several times confirming the engine is running.

Like Dutchmanxtr, mentions, Open it up and check the battery placement. also try a different battery, as you might have gotten a bad one.

If the light still does not work, you will need to determine which Ford Remote Start is installed in your truck, as that Fob came with two different kits.
1.) The old Series 100 two way system
2.) The VSS based modular two way system
To find out you will need to do some investigating. Pop out the driver side dashboard side cover and take a peek inside, you will be looking for a small black box like the below.
