Question 2013 Limited Remote Start Problems

Seems like my remote start is hit or miss, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Very insonsistant, some days it will make this clicking sound but start up just fine with the key, some days it will remote start just fine... i dunno, anyone had this, something i should take the truck in for service for?

Does the horn honk when it won't start?

Is the check engine light on when it won't start?

yes, I hit the lock first and the horn honks, check engine light comes on as it always does when I initially put key in for a sec

I'm experiencing the same issue with my 2014, I'm gonna try hitting the start button a little bit slower. So far it seems to be working...

If it honks after you press the start twice it usually means you have a check engine light on and won't start.

But sounds like yours doesn't. As stated above try pressing the buttons slowly.

My 13 limited will sometimes do this but I've learned that pausing a full second or so between hits on the start button normally starts the truck without incident. If I rush it things don't go well. I still like the multiple push start on the key fob vs the push and hold procedure on the GMC I traded for this truck, but to be fair I like pretty much everything about my 13 limited. The small number of minor problems I've had with brakes and paint haven't discouraged me yet.

When all else fails, change the battery. That's what was wrong with mine, and the truck was only two months old. Good luck.

My '13 Platinum remote may need a battery replacement due to the remote start working intermittently.

I found the battery only last about 4-5k miles if used frequently.

Pull the battery out and put it back in, mine gave me fits the 1st year I had it and after just re-seating the battery it's been working perfectly since.
