I had this problem before. Check the sensor under the hood, I was told that sometimes it gets bent down and the sensor "thinks" the hood isn't shut and it won't start in that case. Also the gaskets in the key go bad and will cause it to work off and on. I had that problem and it also wouldn't lock/unlock sometimes and it worked fine after the dealership switched the gasket. Good luck, let us know what fixed it.

I've had the same battery in my key fob for 2 years. There's a TSB to have the rubber gasket in the key fob changed. I had the same issues and pulled the seal out, put it back in, and everything works great now.

Hi everyone,

If you're still experiencing issues with your remote start, I recommend bringing this to the attention of your dealership so they can document and diagnose the concern. I'm always happy to do what I can to help as well; PM me your info and I'll check out options. In your message, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

But sounds like yours doesn't. As stated above try pressing the buttons slowly.

what does it mean if it does have the check engine light and it won’t start?

Factory remote start will not start if there is a code present that will turn on the check engine light, or if the hood is open, or the hood switch is misadjusted.
