2013 FX4 with Nav sub replace
I know there have been quite a few topics on this already but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for.
I have pulled the stock Sony sub and want to replace that with an aftermarket amp/sub. From digging around I believe the connector that connects that sub to the main unit has an audio signal and remote wire I can use (I've read that it's 5V though).
I've been looking through different Metra connectors but I can't see to find one that would fit the original OEM connector for the sub (photo of the sub connect attached which is what I'm looking for a new version of). I'd rather not cut the current connector off the sub if I can avoid that.
Ideally there is a connector out there which connect to the stock harness which runs to this sub and provide preout RCA connections and a remote wire. I understand I'd need to run a new power connection already.
Thanks for your help!

Any chance someone has found one of those connectors for sale though? I'd really like to preserve those wires and connector if possible.
Yup, actually just figured that out when I disassembled the sub to see which wire was which (had assume the amp was mounted internally to the box as it had been in earlier models... until I read it's under the center console). That means I can probably just connect a JL Audio CL441dsp CleanSweep to one set I would assume.

As a person without the factory Sony system, what kind of expense would I be looking at to add the stock sub to my setup? '13 Lariat with MyFordTouch. The stock speakers sound ok, not bad enough for me to immediately replace, but I'm used to a vehicle with a little more bass than I have right now. (the truck I traded in had 2x 10" subs under the extended cab seat, for example).
I don't want to take up the entire area under the back seats, so the factory single sub is ideal for my situation.

I'm pretty sure that if you don't have the Sony sub then you don't have the 700w system - meaning you don't have an amp. You might find it cheaper to use aftermarket parts.
If you went with something like a single FoxBox then you don't use up the entire space under both seats. I think you could get the box, sub and amp for all under $500. (FoxBox = $125, Sub = $150, Amp = $125, Wire Kit = $25; Total = $425).
I'm worried if you try to find a factory sub and then an amp you're going to be getting close to the same price either way without the same quality. On eBay the Sony sub with enclosures are roughly $150-200 and you'll still need an amp.

Thanks - I'm going to try the high level inputs on my existing amp first and just see how terrible it is. Will be in touch re: the clean sweep. As for the hot glue trick... would that just be jam wires into existing connector, cover in hot glue?

Basically. Lol I would terminate the wires with some connector, put them in there and hot glue. Will stay forever, won't mess up anything and best part you should just be able to pop out the wires hot glue and all with a sharp tool.
