2013 5.0 problems
* poor gas mileage - jury's still out on this one...only getting 11.5 mpg that stays the same nomatter if I use e85 or 4x4. Thought maybe the hubs were stuck engaged up front but i took it in and they said it was fine. I live close to teh city though so its probably that and winter gas.
E85 I just reset the display though, didnt do a full tank so didnt hand calculate.
my dash says 11.4 right now. Leveled with 34.5" tires but still even when I was stock I think it was around this, maybe a single MPG better. I do drive it like a racecar though so yeahhh. No issues so far, love the truck to death!
yeah im pretty heavy on the peddle too lol. Probably the main cause of it, since everything else is stock.
My late build 2013 FX4 5.0 had a cold engine knock at 25,000 miles, the engine was rebuilt. Cylinder #8 was oblong and caused piston slap, fairly common concern with some being more severe than others. Mine was severe enough to cause low compression on cylinder #8.
Same as his but mine was cly #6 and it wqs short block at 25.5k miles. Herd ot was maily 3&4 cly. But thats been skewed now
My truck has 52,000 the pulleys sound like one is worn out
has a small oil leak from some where
timing chain sounds like it is going to fly out when I crank it in the morning
and I can here some what of a knock I can hear when I'm beside something

Are you saying the knocking was not there at normal operating temp? Ive had a cold knock since new that goes away and turns into a perfect sounding purr when its up to temp. I was told the steel/aluminum tolerances are shifting during the warmup phase and it resolves itself when fully up to temp, and there's no problem. Mine runs great at 40k now and I've had no issues with it.
