There are access holes behind the cab corners, I went back there and sprayed a whole can of rust converter in there, my rust spots turned black, but hopefully they wont get any bigger.

Unfortunately this is just a bad design and it's been happening since the 2004's came out. Ford obviously didn't change anything for the 09-14.

I see a lot of great looking trucks in my area with cab corner rust. It sucks to see.

Only super crews are affected. Super cab and regular cab don't share that cab corner design.

I hope you're dealer helps you. But if you want the honest truth, they probably won't if your warranty is up.

That's perforation!! Take a ice pick and push in on a rusty spot, it should go thru. That's coming from inside. Ford has a new patch panel to fix this. Why is it rusting?? May be the rear moon roof drains dump there, may be dirt thrown from the tires go into the hole at the back of the cab into that space. See if the drain is open at the lower pinch weld. The drain in that spot is very small, I slide a strip of plastic into the drains every so often to make sure they are clear.

I have no idea why it is rusting. It is parked in my heated shop every night and I wash it every week! I am going to look at that drain tonight and see if its plugged!

Most of these threads I have seen are guys who say they wash their truck every week.

Parking it in a heated garage can definitely speed up the process with the daily thawing and melting.

Still, that's not the root of the problem. It's just a poor design that's prone to rust in the states where salt is used.

build date means nothing. It is the warranty start date that you need to know,
which is usually the day you take it off the lot. And as kobi2013 said it is perforation
and should be covered. and usually it is the ford rep who makes the call on if it is
covered or not from my experience.

What part of the country are you located? Ford may assist if you are just out of the Corrosion Warranty. Ford likes it if you bought it new and have your maintenance done at the dealer.
