Default 2012 Back Up Camera

I need some help with a back up camera I had installed on my 2012 XLT.
The truck is new and has Sync and Sirius factory installed.

I purchased from an Ebay vendor the following:
Harness BL3T-13A409S081N
Camera
BL34-19H438-A
Mirror
BU5A-17E678CD

I had the installer that does all the work for my local dealer do the install.
He said all the parts looked factory and all plugged in perfectly. When the
install was done, we got a blue screen on the camera. I got a new camera from Ebay vendor and it did the same thing. All the mirror functions, direction and temperature work fine.

I have now taken it to the Ford dealer for them to do a diagnostic, but they cannot find out from what info they have what the problem is. The Ebay vendor says he has sold several kits to 2012 owners with no problems. He has been totally willing to do anything I want to do to rectify the situation.

Right now we are down to these two things, the harness is bad or it is the wrong harness. I would really appreciate any help from anyone who maybe
could shed some further light on this. I read past posts and it was suggested to have them flash the memory but the Ford people say that is not necessary.

Again, thanks in advance for any help.

Garry

The blue screen, as you may already know, means that the screen is not receiving a signal from the camera. Does the wiring and connectors look good? Did you have the computer reflashed?

When I did my camera install on my '11, there was a total of 4 harness changes/adds required for a complete factory install... Tailgate, tail light, main body, and headliner..

I skipped the main body change, mainly because you need to lift the box, or drop the fuel tank to change it... I ran a pair of wires (24ga shielded twisted pair) from the headliner harness to the tail light harness.

I'm guessing you're missing the video leads in one or more of the harnesses... There a gigantic thread on the camera add here somewhere... There pictures, pin outs, and the wire colors to look for...

From my research I am wondering if your main harness has the additional wires for the camera or not. If it does not, all the new harnesses will plug in but it will not be connected to the display.

If they are there, then my next spot to check would be whether or not pins 8 & 16 going into the mirror have wires running to them or not. Again, if not then you are probably in the same boat as me and will either need a new headliner harness or to run the additional 2 wires yourself.

I am looking for pins and sockets that will work with 3 connectors and am not sure where to look. I need the following if anyone has any insight:

- Sockets for the connector into the mirror
- Pins for the headliner connector where it plugs into the main harness
- Pins for the tail light harness where it connects to the body harness

I havent had much luck finding out what I need or where i could possibly order them from. Any insight would be appreciated. A few pins is a lot better to me than ordering whole new harnesses. I am using an aftermarket camera so I will not need the standard camera plug.

Thanks,
Jeff

edit; should also probably mention its a 2012 xlt

Who did you buy from? Hope not nailsandsails!!! they don't have any more. I'm looking to buy for my 2012 XLT also... I think the main harness has the wires? connector seems full.

Mine needed 2 wires switched. Everything works great and I got it from Nails!
I really don't know what you expect for 1/8 factory cost.
Next time buy factory if you are not knowledgable enough to trouble shoot a discount product.

Pointers to help you out in the install of the camera. This is the camera and rear harness only. I will update as I finish up the install. I'm going to run my own wires in the body harness as I only have the 7 wires. . Here is the link to the document. There might be errors, use as a reference only, i'm not responsible for up your truck.....lol.. enjoy
