After driving around for 30-40 minutes I will pull into a parking spot and it will start ticking really loud and acts like it is going to die. If you put it in park and give it some gas it will go back to running normal. It has done this three times in a two week period. It has not thrown a warning light. I have searched for a solution and most threads are older and for trucks with low miles. I've seen anything from it needs major engine work, to cleaning sensors, to using heavier oil.

Has anyone experienced this same issue? And is there an easy solution to fix it?
Sounds like a timing issue. The cam phazers are done. Happened to mine. Replacing all timing components will fix that issue.

It only happens once every month or two and usually only on my driveway which is on a upward slope.
Hi, just red the thread, wondering if anything fixed this issue?

Did the timing, tensioners & both cam phasers & Solenoids 6 months ago by myself, bought all oem from ford dealership , I guess may be there’s problem with Solenoids electric connections.

Following . 2010 f-150 super crew.I also have the same issue. Happens when the truck is warmed up and stopped / slow role on an incline. Shakes, sounds like it’s running on 4 cylinders.

I was in the mindset this was caused by the VCT solenoids. Curious to see what others have to say.

Low rpm low oil pressure, where the phasers aren't working correctly causing the shaking.

I've had 2 5.4 3v equipped vehicles. I'd rather have the 5.4 vs the 5.0. Torque is better.
