Default 2010 F150 Problems

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 2010 F150 with a 5.4L and 125,000 miles. A week after I bought it I started noticing an issue with it idling when it is warmed up. After driving around for 30-40 minutes I will pull into a parking spot and it will start ticking really loud and acts like it is going to die. If you put it in park and give it some gas it will go back to running normal. It has done this three times in a two week period. It has not thrown a warning light. I have searched for a solution and most threads are older and for trucks with low miles. I've seen anything from it needs major engine work, to cleaning sensors, to using heavier oil.

Has anyone experienced this same issue? And is there an easy solution to fix it?

Question

Do you have an aftermarket air intake system?

If so ... Does it have an oiled air filter?

If so ... Clean the MAF sensor.
.
If not ...
  • When was the last tune-up?
  • When was the last time that the air filter was replaced?
  • Routinely, how full in the fuel tank?
.

Hey, I literally just had this problem about a week and a half ago. At least it sounds exactly like my problem.. I have a 2009 5.4 V8 with 147k miles.. When you are driving the truck feels normal correct? But once you put it into park and let it sit for 15-30seconds it will start shaking and ticking loudly? What I did was replace plugs.. Luckily that fixed the issue for me. Drives like it's brand new now. If plugs didn't fix it I was going to try replacing the coil pack. You could try that.

i have a 2009 fx4. Mines been doing this since day one. Runs fine until i pull in my driveway and the wheel is turned. Then it starts bucking and sputtering. Sounds like it goes down to 6 or 4 cylinders. Never throws a code or goes to limp mode. I just give it gas and it clears up. I have 70000 on it with the factory plugs and coils. It only happens once every month or two and usually only on my driveway which is on a upward slope.

Has anybody come up with a cure for this one? I also have this issue with my truck, 2010 F150 5.4L 4x4 SCREW 100k mi. Used to do it occasionally, usually after dragging the boat home, while maneuvering in the driveway, now doing it a couple times daily whether loaded or empty...Does seem more likely to do it when running the AC. Have changed plugs and air filter, planning to clean MAF & throttle body next. No serviceable fuel filter on these trucks. Thanx in advance for any help!
