I'm afraid it would get stolen.
The T50 screws are in there pretty damn tight - so at least, the thief would need to have a T50 bit on hand. Other than that - bed topper and locking tailgate work for me.

Or maybe strip out the T50 bolts? lol.

When I traded my 2008 for the 2010, told the dealer I had to ahve the extender, he just transfered the aluminum one over. Fit right in and I like the looks of it better than the modular looking one!!!

Got mine from Tasca today. $306 delivered. 20 minutes to open the boxes, discard the packaging, and install. Found out my 1/2 to 3/8 step-down is missing, so they aren't torqued properly (grrrrr...)

Great mod, but I too need to remove the rubber bumpers or trim them down so the extender will lock in place.

I kept the bed extender from my trade-in 2008 F-250 Superduty and installed it in the 2011 F-150. Only modification was to remove the rubber caps which contact the tailgate in the extended position. T-50 bolts and lock pin alignments are the same between Super Duty and F-150 trucks.
