Default 2009 Frame replacement ?!?

Ok group, gonna need some help/advice on this one.

2009 F150 4 dr 6.5 ft box. 5.4 lt, 3.73 gears, max tow pkg

Driving home from work last week, here a awful banging and rattling, pull in to the nearest parking lot, look under the truck and see that the u-joint (2 peice drive shaft) has gone for s&^%. I take a closer look and see that the hanger has torn the weld off right off the frame

Have it towed to the dealer...6 days later they tell me that they called the Ford engineers in to take a look .

Question is; what am I getting into, repaired frame/frame replacement, or should I be truck shopping?

Please help.

Thx
David (winnipeg Canada)

talked to the dealer again, they tell me that they can't replace the cross member as it is welded in to the main frame. they are pushing for a total frame replacement.
Any ideas on what the cost of this will be???

I looked into this one time on a salvage titled truck that needed the frame replaced. I want to say the frame was 2500.00 and the labor was atleast that much. Ended up not being worth it for me.

If it's just the crossmember, tell the dealer to shove it and have someone else take a look. No way I'd replace a straight, no-accident frame without exhausting all other options. I can't imagine needing a new frame just because the driveshaft ripped its hanger off.

Have a 1 piece drive shaft built and eliminate that center hanger altogether

Your driveshaft went out and ripped the hanger loose, or did the hanger fail and cause the driveshaft to fail? If it was your driveshaft that caused this, is it covered under warranty?

the hanger can be bought separately and welded back on. if ford is paying then a certified welder is needed.

if it is you paying then fully weld the old hanger back on and buy a driveshaft.

If it's not covered under warranty (If it's an 09 it won't be) I'd take it to a body shop and have the hanger welded.

That, or do as another member said and have a one-piece driveshaft built and get rid of the hanger. The ladder option will likely be cheaper.
