How old was your truck? I bet that if you started with an '09, that might have a little rust here or there, on time consuming parts like spring bolts and brake and fuel lines, I bet it could climb past 7k quick. What came with the fame? I've never seen a ford frame kit, but I have seen the Toyotas that come with a lot of the small stuff already attached, lines, muffler brackets, hitch, etc.

 

It's my current 2013 F150. Hit a light pole at 5 mph picking up an IPAD my 6 year old dropped in the back seat. I did 21,000 worth of damage in a CVS parking lot. The frame kit came in one piece from front to back. The frame an install was around 7200.00

 

5mph?? Typo? Or BS.

 

5, 8 10, it was too dam slow to do that much damage I'll tell you that.

My mom totaled my dad's 03 a few years ago by driving it into a tree going 20 MPH. Threw the bed into the cab and punctured it, whole front end was half the size it should've been, radiator demolished, engine shifted back, and the frame horn took a rectangular prism out of the tree (kinda like a cookie cutter in dough). Long story and it happened a mere 5 houses down the street from our house, but THAT (your accident) my friend takes the cake.

Frame damaged = totaled for me, even if it's brand new. Wish insurance companies worked that way. Cause that truck is gonna be hell to get rid of, and even worse for the next dealership to sell. I wouldn't want something with damage that catastrophic.

Well depends where you hit but i bet you were doing at least 15. Plus when you hit something with no absorbing power it alters things a lot.

 

Been working in the collision repair industry for close to 18 years. I have seen and painted many frame swaps. But I have never in all my years heard of a 5mph crash equal out to $21000.

 

Exactly what I'm thinking. The trucks frames are very strong. If my buddy's truck survived a 30mph t bone only needing new front end stuff like fenders and grille, etc. then you could survive a 5 mph fender bender with a pole with some tough up paint on the bumper.

 

Since it is covered under warranty, I'd be happy with whatever fix they have in mind.
