19 Axle Code LSD
If the cover looks like a square with radiused corners, it's an 8.8". If its a trapezoid (with radiused corners) it's a 9.75". The 9.75 cover looks a lot like a Dana 60.
P.S. The axle code only identifies gear ratio and whether it's limited slip or not.

This. I don't every you are looking at that shows the 19 code as specifically being an 8.8, but Ford's towing shows that's the only code for a 3.55 open diff, regardless of which axle. Were 8.8s everybody available in our generation? Every one I've looked at was a 9.75.
I'm "winging it" a bit here, but to my knowledge: FX4 package gets a 9.75, Max Tow package gets a 9.75. I don't know about trim levels. I want to say Lariat and up also gets a 9.75 but I'm not sure.

All the ones I've looked at were either FX4 or XLT, 3.5EB or 5.0, and I think they all had a tow packagw and were all 9.75. But I mean, it's not like I go around looking under every truck I see either. Come to think of it, my cousin has a 2012 5.0 4x4 XL tow package and has a 9.75. My uncle has 13 or 14 XLT 2wd with the 3.7, I might look under his and see what he has if I think about it.
He has a 4x2, boys. You are all talking about 4x4s. Pretty sure every 4x4 in the 12th gen was 9.75, but not every F150.
OP, There should be products for this, AutoAnything seems to have some. They aren't TrueTracs, but they exist.

That makes sense, but the axle code is still irrelevant to identifying which axle he has.
OP just snap a pic or Google pictures of the 8,8 and 9.75. They are distinctly different shapes and easy to visually ID.
