ya almost any parts store will check them for free..... most will not erase the codes tho anymore...... but you can clear the codes by pulling the battery cables off for 15 mins... while the battery cables are off turn the headlights on... to exspend any extra power...

so you're selling everything you have due to job loss and looking for a 30-50k truck in the near future because civilization is ending? Why are you concerned with a check engine light? It seems like an issue that can wait seeing as SHTF very soon. Also, why not just take out a massive loan or second mortgage on the house for a ton of extra cash if you think you will not need to pay it back?

We already covered that. Once again Joe does not think The world is going to end but CHANGE IN A BIG WAY!!!
Food for thought.....
Egypt and the worst blizzard the US has seen... Are these signs of a change?
You let me know

Granted I am working on master's/ph.d. in international business and I can assure him these events will not happen, but I am curious as to his odd concerns, as well his absolutely terrible choice for vehicle. I am also wondering how he was so motivated and after losing his job completely gave up on building this 200 mile vehicle. I'd think if things were getting bad you could simply fill up and drive the 200 miles with the truck as is.

True on the cel and driving it 200 miles. But just because you are working on your PHD dose that mean you can predict the future? Not to be a smart a.. But I gotta go back to work my lunch time is over. I will be on later tonight.

Now studying raw data, economic trends, and much information you never hear about on the news, will bring you to realize how ridiculous some of the ideas such as the one this forum address. Not to say the OP does not know what he is talking about but the comments for and against him are complete garbage and often times hilarious.
Most of the times blatant facts are ignored and the argument makes no sense and is completely based on hear-say.
It would be like if you knew everything about trucks and someone said they wanted to do something crazy like put a tonneau cover on to get 50% better mpg because the company told them it would. Now you view this as complete b.s. and try to convince the person it will not work, even if they say you do not know because you don't have this "new style" cover.
You are not a smarta**. Just trying to add to the forum. I know the example is very small in scale to the original with the world ending, but it comes down to just trying to add a more "knowledgeable" opinion to the discussion.
I would like to see the vehicle built, obviously not on my dime because what's the fun in that? I am just curious for the 25 page mission that did a complete 180 to what looks like giving up on a life.
