OK, OK, already, i promise some pictures "soon"... much like our government...
i'll figure out the pictures this weekend - the grill guard should be mounted friday morning, and i'll be out at the ranch, maybe, so there'll be some actual "truckish" scenery for a background. but, absent the lift and tires, there's not that much to look at beyond what's in the profile - a shell, steps, the new guard, and the antenna... but, i live for my fans, so you shall receive...
recieve... oh heck, get.
PS "BS"? like you would not believe!! you wanna see some real loony tunes, check out the same thread at f150online - evidently the idea of a 2WD offroad vehicle impugned their manhood over there and they had 'strong reactions'... buncha dufuses... the admins had to break it up (I do not suffer fools gladly, or quietly), so some of the more interesting posts are probably gone by now.

love the thread, read the first 2 pages then jumped here...
here is my "When the Sh*t hits the fan truck"
454, and a K5 blazer are fun. it will go anywhere. probley about 4,000 into the whole truck with the full engine rebuild costing 1100 in parts and machine work.

PS i'm seriously considering a kawasaki 650 dirt/street bike because it has a very large fuel tank for this style. such a bike is a great "get away" ride, but most of them come with a small gas tank. range is a problem when you're running and the gas stations are on fire.
i just know someone will ask - why both? The little one is to get me to where ever i left the big one.

i have to admit i'm beginning to rethink the pickup, though; but not for any reason many here would expect - i've changed my mind about nothing (yet); but i have found that a regular cab shortbed is small! cheap, but small.
plus, i'm beginning to have concerns over the M5OD trans, as well.
we'll see. i hope to make a decision before i install all the radios and the long travel.

Second,
Here’s what the design looks like now:
1. 2000 F150 XLT short bed (6.5’) regular cab 4.2L V6, 5SPD manual 3.55 open diff, OEM HD payload package: 255/70R16 tires, HD Springs, shocks, electrical (130 amp alt), cooling and Class III towing pkge. This truck has just over 60,000 miles on it now.
2. used Leer camper shell (done)
3. Line-X bed liner (done)
4. 285/75R16 tires on stock rims
5. LS or locker –TBD. May go to lower gears. May even go to a 9.75 axle, depends on what I learn here. So far, the jury’s still out on that.
6. I’m moving the battery(s) to the bed.
7. Dual Alternators (see pro elect tech comment below)
8. Push bumper/bar with receiver. Eventually remove OEM bumpers (F/R) and may go to glass hood and fenders for weight reduction.
9. Efans: I’m going to pull fan(s) off a Taurus or a Mark VIII. A professional engine electronic tech is going to design and install the wiring, controller(s), etc.
10. Engine programming (PHP?), Gotts mod and UDPs are in!
11. modded 10 meter radio
12. skid plates, rocker bars, side steps
13. Roof rack… if I can put one over the camper that will carry any weight.
14. Maybe better mufflers. It’s got OEM dual cats on it now, and apparently it’s hard to improve this much. (Improve= power/mpg, not sound. Opinions will vary.)
15. probably stronger springs/shocks
16. Suspension limit straps, axle hoop, etc.
17. Aux fuel tank, water tank, tool boxes, etc.
18. AC inverter, air compressor, electric generator
19. work lights
20. steel matting, shovels, picks, axe, sledge, shepherd’s jack, come-along, floor jack, wheel hub winch, hand winch, electric winch, pry bars, wrecking bars, air jack (balloon), solar still, solar battery charger, etc., etc. etc. Feel free to contribute to “etc.” Really.

Great thread. I read all the way through. I agree with you, in the next 25 years the chances of the U.S. still being around are slim. We will fall from within, and we wont be able to do anything about it due to liberalism and socialism, because they will run our media, economy, military and all aspects of your life. We are a spoiled rotten politically correct nation, people need to wake up. If we dont turn it around and restore our borders language and culture (Dr. Savage) we will lose all that we set out for as a country.
I like your mindset joe but, ignore those fools who are blinded by Liberal media, they will be on their knees when the time comes
Understanding you cant get your hands on a 4x4, get a locking rear diff, a winch, and some bfg mud terrains on the back, if a winch is to expensive a chain and a comealong will do. That being said, if you are traveling alone a dirtbike is a better choice, just make sure its quiet, aftermarket muffler can fix that.keep us posted I want pics
My bugoutvehicle is a 1979 F250 351 long bed extended cab 4x4 front locker bulletproof c6 trans, bulletproof np205 transfer case, 4 inch suspension lift 35 bfg mud terrains, make sure youve got the essentials though water is most important, i have a hand pump water filter capable of filtering 13000 gallons from katadyn. Next a 50lb bag of rice is about 8 bucks and goes a long way. An ak47 and 5000 rds of ammo, the gun is indestructible
