Thanks man. The truth is I know very little about suspension as a whole but in the past I've heard that when you get blocks it can lead to problems with slipping and I would definitely want to avoid that. I would just assume that when you are considering Towing something heavy like my trailer that slippage with the blocks would be more common. I was hoping I could pick up a lift to improve clearance off road without destroying my ability to tow with the truck. Realistically though I'm not going to be able to spend more than a couple thousand on just the lift.

You can put a fairly capable lift on your truck within your budget depending on how high you want to lift the truck. Companies like Halo Lifts and Fox both have a kit that includes adjustable life coilovers for the front and shocks for the rear for about 1,200-1,300. To just lift the front to level it out, that's all you'd need. The shocks for the back obviously don't lift the truck so you'd be looking at either an add a leaf or a custom leaf pack. Companies like Alcan and Deaver can make springs to whatever specification you want (lift, capacity, etc.). Just make sure your shocks and bump stops are properly sized for the travel of the leaf springs. Same with your brake lines, want to make sure they're long enough for whatever you do.

The reason I don't like blocks, especially for towing, is they promote axle wrap and can wear out your leafs quicker.

Thanks for your help! I'll look into this!

Leave truck as is.

Offroading is way more fun (IMO) when done with ATV, dirt bike, or razor-type thing.

And your truck wont get thrashed......off road can be brutal.
