Strong tires
Well, I have been living full time in Mexico for a while now and I am having a lot of tire issues. Right now I have the Hannook Dynapro AS on my truck. I am wondering if AT tires are stronger? I drive on dirt roads a lot, because at times there is no other choice, and they are filled with sharp rocks generally the size of baseballs. Would an AT tire hold up better on these types of roads? Would just simply getting a different tire be better, since I have read a lot of bad things about the Hannooks? Or am I just stuck because all tires will have a hard time going over sharp rocks?
I would assume your tires are P rated for passenger cars. I would go with an LT (light truck) tire. The BF Goodrich all terrain is a great choice. As far as what ply rating each tire has I am clueless.
Check this link to get an idea about tire load ranges and ply ratings. Good info.

After Katrina I was getting too many flat's with my stock P rated tires. Cut down to zero switching to LT 10 ply tires. Did hit a piece of steel that took out a 2 inch diameter of the tread on a BFG AT I had on. LT tires are a lot stronger then a P rated tire, just make sure they have 3 ply sidewalls.

yes upgrading to an 10 ply rating woul be you best bet. The ply rating means that is how many layers are built into the tire. Obviously the more layers the better off you are. This should all but stop your tire issues.
