If you could let me know if the chimes, etc. are affected by volume, most importantly if you can still hear them (particularly ones like the backup warning) even if the volume is at 0 or muted, I'd really appreciate it.

As well as how they sound overall? My inputs are so low right now I can't tell.

@moni

Is there anything you guys can do from the software side to increase the pre-out voltage?

I don't think they can drive a signal harder with this unit. Or at least do a good job of it. Last I spoke with Moni he was checking with Audison to see if there was a way to modify the 8.9, since his theory is it is designed primarily to accept high level speaker inputs and therefore possibly a mod will make it work better with lower level signals. Which I appreciate, but I'm still going to go the line driver route. I don't want to send my 8.9 to be modded (or attempt it myself). Plus a good quality line driver like the AudioControl unit has its own benefits on top of (hopefully) fixing this problem.

I know from my experience with the early days of the Rockford DSR1, it suffered from extremely low pre-out voltage which gave me volume problems and gain problems on my amp. I measured the pre-out voltage with my multi meter and it was very similar to what the zen is currently putting out. After working with Rockford, they did some software tweaking and were able to increase the pre-out voltage which eliminated my volume and gain problems. My speakers got loud and clear after that! If Rockford could tweak their software, I'm hopeful there is some extra "umph" left in the zen pre-out voltage.

Believe me if Zen can fix this with a software update that would make my day. Though less so if they do it after I've got this driver installed and can't return it I can't really wait that long since I currently have a system that isn't really working right in my daily driver.

I totally understand that! I imagine they are working on it as we speak!

They should reimburse you guys some for being guinea pigs on a product that was released and not 100% ready for market. I know JL recently did a fix via TUN software that helped with the low volume issue too. Maybe Moni should speak with JL to see what they did and copy them.

This would be nice. 750 is a lot to spend for something that isn't fully operational.

I cant speak for others, but I am happy to be a part of the development of a product like this. The extra usability they keep coming up with is just a software download away. Moni and Nav-TV have been awesome at answering questions, both on these forums, and through direct messaging.

They have been responding immediately to customer requests and have definitely impressed me with their customer service.

I agree, customer service has been top notch. Just a couple bugs. It will get worked out.
