Need ForScan advise -removed Sony Amp
#21
So I installed everything but the new speakers this weekend. BUT the chimes and beep from the touch screen are painfully loud. Way too loud. Any idea what I can do to turn this down? Before you ask, my gain is not set very high. I haven't put the dd1 to the amps yet so they are set low for the time being.

Sorry I been busy with real life events and haven't got on lately to report back on my issues with this setup...
At this point I'm not certain I can suggest this device anymore or at least at this time.
I've had some oddities with it as of late. The system was losing the the previous levels set within the RF App. I'm just not sure anymore. I will say I did have the issue with the chimes being loud the first time I hooked it up, but it went away hours later on it's own. I Just chalked it up as something I did with the AMP as I was adjusting gains and such then the loudness went away. I have other issues now...
Example:
Almost every time I now, I'll have to launch the RF Perfect Tune app after the truck is started and use the slider for the punch level control volume up and down, as it forgets the previous levels. It gets real annoying when you go to the store come out and everything is low or bass is gone. Once I adjust the slider it all comes back, but what a pain to do every time.
Hoping to address this I upgraded the firmware last night to the 1.2.6.0 using the new updater software 1.1.3. I also, used the option to reset the DSR1 to defaults when flashing. Now I have the same issue as you dhmcfadin. The system tones/chimes almost blow my ear drums. The only thing I could do last night to address this is adjust the master volume on the RF Perfect Tune app. Surprisingly - at least since I did that the tones have stayed the same. BIG DRAW BACK HOWEVER - is this affected the overall volume of the system. So now I have to crank the volume to 15 on the stereo to get the levels I had at say 5. Again this seems to be having bugs and not working as I thought it would. Also, still have the issue of the DSR1 not retaining the other levels and still have to launch app, adjust levels to get my bass back.
So I'll be contacting Rockford Fosgate this week to explain the issues and see what they tell me.
I'm sorry to anyone using this and having problems due to my recommendation. Seemed like a good concept at the time, but I'm not satisfied with it now.
Sorry

I am having problems with the loud chimes, but other than that my DSR1 is still working. I have not updated any of the firmware yet as I was holding off for either Fosgate or Maestro to confirm that they have this fixed. Seems like you are the beta tester, hope they get it figured out soon.

So I spent all weekend tuning. Tried different RCA’s, checked for proper gain, reset low and high pass filters, recalibrated eq in the app and finally used a multi meter to check the output of the amp while playing a 50hz tone at 0 dB. This is where things got interesting.
The output voltage from the amp is not linear and it seems really low. At level 10 on the radio, output voltage is about 4, at 20 it’s about 8 volts but if you go up to clipping which is 25 on my f150, the voltage is 21. So in a 5 incrimate volume adjustment, we get a non linear voltage increase from 8 volts to 21. Crutchfield is sending me a new amp. I don’t think it’s an issue with the amp because it is not just the sub amp, there’s a lack of bass across the board.
Voltage = square root of watts x ohms. My sub amp is a Morel 1.550. The square root of (550 watts x 2 ohms) is 33.17 volts. This is voltage I should be seeing. Plain and simple, the lack of bass and output is from the dsp. I’ve submitted my findings on the DSR1 forum. We will see what happens.

I removed my Sony Amp from my 17' with 802a package. Replaced system with Rockford Fosgates new DSR1 and a JL HD900/5 amp.
The DSR1 combines a full-featured 3Sixty digital signal processor with a flashable iDatalink Maestro integration module
