I think my situation of no sound was a fluke because since then, I have had no issues. Still on the most recent firmware.

Just an update. I starting having sound issues again. I was having the disconnect the unit every time I started the truck. I reached out to Tony at NavTV. They just released a new update. Version 3.2.20

This solved all my problems! Definitely update your unit!

Default Continued Zen Issues

Hi everyone, sorry I am late to the party. I am still experiencing the connection between the truck and the zen to be challenging. About 30% of the time it may take 30-45 seconds to kick in and then there are times when there is no sound at all. The head unit is working properly (showing volume, making source changes, etc...), however, no sound. The only solution is to either pull the plug on the zen and let it reset or to turn off the truck for 20-30 minutes and then it seems to work fine again the next time. It appears there was an update that fixed some problems but I have the latest update and mine is still having this issue. Thoughts?

Sorry to hear.

I ended up pulling mine and throwing it in the trash. What a waste of money. I've been doing car audio for quite some time and have never been so frustrated with a product.

I hope they get this sorted out as the unit is quite expensive.

Yeah, it is too expensive for me to discard. I hope they find a solution for this. It is sorely disappointing. Thank you for the reply.

Haha. I hear you. I definitely would have not discarded it either had I been of sound mind and body. Frustration set in. I'm a very mellow person too if that is any indication of the level of frustration. I had the unit working for about a month but the chimes were too loud. Someone from Nav-Tv connected to the unit through my computer and updated the firmware which gave me the options to adjust the chimes. The next day is when the no sound issue started. Not sure if they are related but it sure seems like it.

Sure..... I'll bite.

When you called Nav-TV and explained the issue, what did they tell you to do?

I'm finally about to get started on my build, and want to understand the issues others have encountered.

They tried to trouble shoot a couple of options and one of the main ones was running the power from the JL VXI into the Zen as opposed to using Ford power. We did that and no different. Then they asked they we make sure we had all the updates (which we did) and the truck was updated (which it was). So, thus far nothing has worked yet. They have been super nice and it is my understanding that another update is forthcoming. It is weird as I do believe that there are some people having this issue and some not. Additionally, there is pretty good debate out there on whether to use the digital input or the RCAs. I went digital, I believe most are going RCAs.

I have been having this ongoing issue as well. I have called them several times and they also had me rewire the power/grounds directly to the distribution blocks to bypass the factory harness, to no avail. I also let them remote into my system via my connceted PC while I was experiencing the issue and they didn't find anything out of the ordinary. They had me upgrade the firmware which also has not resolved the issue. They then started wondering if it was my MIni-DSP but I have bypassed that when it was having the no sound problem and it did not resolve the issue. Like others, if I unplug the power harness the audio will start working again. I encourage everyone having this issue yo continue to call them as I didn't get the sense they were actively working on finding a resolution for the issue as they may think it is being caused by other hardware in the signal chain.

So with the 4.0 update, I have not had the "no sound" issue. About 30% of the time, it takes longer to connect than I would like, but (fingers crossed), the sound has been connecting. With that update, it did seem to change a few setting on my amp... For example, the bass **** control I had set is now gone, but those things are minor comparatively.
