I extended the mini-USB to the glove box. If you can point me to any uses for it other than it's intended use (trafic receiver) I'd appreciate it. I can find no reference to updates other than via CD/DVD. Garmin doesn't sell map updates as a download only DVD. Firmware updates are downloadable to be burned to a CD.

I've had my 6140 installed for almost a month and I love it. I only have two minor gripes - no time of day display on the nav page and my bluetooth phone doesn't always sync unless I turn off bluetooth on the phone then back on.

I added the HD radio unit when I installed the radio and it works great!

I haven't tried to use it for updates but that is apparently what it is for. If everything is burnable to a disc then there is no need. I mainly wanted to do that so I could update some voices etc easily from my PC.

I think there is a way to get the clock on the nav page. I'll look into that. So far my bluetooth has worked flawlessly with my Blackberry storm.

Look at the installation manual, the mini USB is used to connect the optional traffic receiver, although I'm sure someone will find a way to use it for other things.

BTW, if you haven't stumbled upon it yet, here is a very long (14 page) and informative thread dedicated to the 6140:

I actually read on that thread that you could use it to connect it to a PC for updates?
