I did take the entire dash kit and bezel apart (yes, I disassembled the actual bezel, circuit boards and all) to see what it would take to install my AVH-4100NEX. If I was better at fiberglass or bondo, I might actually give it a shot. I found what part goes to what (and even the leads for the backup camera) and there is room to mount my head unit... If only I could finish out the bezel to look professional once it is done....
On a more depressing note, still no word on a Schosche or Metra 2016 double-DIN dash kit
No worries! I should have done a proper intro first as I have been lurking on this site for a long time. I was excited about finding a source for these kits, but...

Originally, I was going to go the iPad mini route shown below, but the soundman plastic piece is $250. I guess waiting is the only option now.

I took a few pics, just for myself, for later reference. If I'd have thought at the time, I would have taken a little more picture quality time You're welcome to them. They aren't anything special.

The yellow box is the approximate DD cutout size & location.
#1 & 2 are the Eco Start/Stop, Hazard, & Traction Control switches shown for front & back reference:

Anyone know if the AC controls are connected in anyway to the 4.2" screen? I've talked to 2 different shops who have fabed stuff for my trucks in the past, and they both said the stock stereo cannot be changed due to the AC controls being connected to the stereo. I tried to tell them it was not, but they insisted

No 1st hand experience but there was a guy here where peeps would sent him the dash plate and he would modify it.
Now...the climate controls and all are built right into the kit ...maybe that's why the shops saying no??

Yes that's true, all the boards are connected with ribbon cables. But it can be done. There's a guy on there that did it and kept the stock controls.
