Default New from Cincinnati, OH

Just bought a 2005 4x4 Ext. Cab 5.4L

Been wandering around here for a few days getting some ideas. Figured I'd post some current pics and introduce myself.

On Order - Bull Bar, Nerf Step Bars, Side Window Vent Visors and New Fog Lamps.

The Fog Lamps that were on the truck had lost all of the reflective paint on the inside and new lamps did not help, so I ordered a new set.

The Truck has 79K miles and I'm not certain what Oil was used in it, so I'm trying to determine which way I need to go there. Think I'll start with the standard 5-20 Motorcraft oil as specified in some of the searches I've done in case someone put conventional in it.

Future project will include CAI, Exhaust and new Tires.

The owners manual recommends the Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic, but it also states that it is not required. Ford does state that the oil should meet WSS-M2C930 specification. Also,"SAE 5w-20 oil provides optimum fuel economy and durability performance meeting all requirements for your vehicle engine." I usually just follow the manufactures recommendations on fluids.

Welcome, you will find this forum to be very helpful.

No, you will be strait. I would suggest going one way or the other as far as your maintenance is concerned. It is getting to the point in milage where you wouldn't want to switch the oil type back and forth.

Thanks everyone. Did the oil change to Motorcraft 5-20 full synthetic. Fog Lights will be here tomorrow. Vent Visors are on. Bull bar should be here this week. Haven't received a status on the Nerf Bars, but will post a couple more pics when everything is done.
