Default New again..sort of.

Looks like after an over 3 year hiatus I'll be hanging around here again. I've had several Ford trucks over the years including two Rangers and two F-150's. I originally joined here back in 2008 when I bought my first F-150, a 2001 5.4L Super Cab. I sold that and in 2013 I bought a brand new Sterling Gray SuperCrew Ecoboost. Sadly, only about 6 months after I bought it I ended up selling it to help me with funds to go back to college. The truck only had 7k miles on it, but I felt I needed to do what would help myself and family out the most. The last time I logged into the forum before today was in September 2013, right after I sold it.

Fast forward to over 3 1/2 years later. I've had a couple of other vehicles since then, cheaper ones to get me through. I had a 2010 TDi that I sold to my cousin last year. 2 years ago I bought an '04 Grand Cherokee which I've had a lot of fun with, but it's been a money pit and has gotten to be more trouble than it's worth. So I decided to get back into a pickup and buy something newer again that I can depend on.

I've been looking for a '15+ CPO but they're just not out there unless they were fleet, which means they have little for options, etc...hardly anything out there with even a tow package on it. I had a brand new one picked out, but decided it's still not the right time to spend that much as I do still have one year of college left. So I started looking for something similar to what I had before. After a lot of searching and missing out on a couple because I couldn't get there in time, I came across a nice 2014 that I put money down on yesterday and plan on picking up on Saturday.

2014 XLT Ecoboost in Ruby Red, SuperCrew short bed. 302A package, plus leather, HID's, 20's, 3.73 E-locker, 7650 GVWR, 36 gallon tank, and max tow package. Bed liner and a hard tri-fold tonneau on it which are nice bonuses. 28k miles and it seems to be in really nice shape. The only thing I don't like about it are the huge tow mirrors on it, which I'd actually like to swap out for the standard mirrors if I can get a set cheap enough and if it's fairly straight forward. I have to park this thing in a parking garage and I just don't tow items that I feel I need those mirrors, but it has them so for now that's what it has.

So hopefully all goes well and I bring it home in a few days.

Yeah, what I'll probably do is pick up a set of the standard power/heated/signal mirrors if I can find them and then either sell the tow mirrors or hang onto them in case I need them down the road. I almost hate to sell them because the truck was ordered that way, but maybe a good price for them will make me get over that.

I used to have an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge in a vent pod in my old one. I may put one in this truck too. I'm also on the fence about a tune, not sure if I want to go down that road or not. I might just enjoy it the way it is for a while. For the moment I just need to pick up a nice set of all weather mats and a couple other odds and ends.

Brought it home today.
