Howdy
I have had a 2018 F150 xlt 2.7l ecoboost 4x4 for 2 years now. I have 60k on it and get about 22mpg. It has been the best vehicle I have owned. I have been doing oil changes with penzoil ultra and replacing the air filter at every oil change. It has plenty of power for a truck it's size. It has pulled my toolboxes around with no issues or whatever I put behind it. My dad still has an 81 F100 he bought brand new of the show room for. So always been a Ford guy. I also have a 97 Ford Ranger with 4.0 4x4 5 speed with 33's on it. I have been turning wrenches at a major truck dealership on Cummins engines and Detroit engines for the past 10 years. I worked at Ford in between truck dealerships for about 6 months doing mostly camphasers on the 3.5l got to use IDS and FDRS a little. Hoping to learn more to keep my F150 up and on the road and will help out if I can. Thanks.
I've seen a lot of turbo failures from restricted airflow causing cavitation. I see those filter minders break and let the vacuum out giving you a false reading if the customer continues to drive, they end up dusting the engine. With the 2.7l being a twin turbo I feel it is cheap insurance at $20 an oil change. I stay away from K&N or cold air intakes. I've seen them do way more damage with just little gain. I just get the motorcraft.

Ive never heard that around here and I don’t think there’s been any reported failures due to that. Most recommend more frequent oil changes for turbo life. I do MC air filters every 20k or two years. My last filter had 15k when I replaced before a long trip. I felt bad throwing it out as it looked incredibly clean.
