Default Hello From Alaska!

Hello to everyone, My name is Will and I have a 1986 F-150 2x4 truck. It's a beater with a heater, and I sure could use some help learning to work out the kinks. Take for instance, it started fine this morning in this nice 23 degree weather. I went back in the house to let it warm up, came out 10 minutes later, it had shut off and would not re-start. It wants to turn over, but it wouldn't "fire up" for me.

I look forward to learning from you and hopefully having something worthwhile to post. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Warm regards,

Will Hammond.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to contributing some worthwhile information and being new to Ford trucks, I am eager to learn from all the knowledge here. So where to start? I'm Active Duty Navy, I've been at it for almost 14 years now and love every minute of it, even the deployments that take me away from my family because it's for the greater good of us all. Those of you that have served your "time", THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. That goes for all the Police Officers and Fire Fighters as well. What you do makes a significant difference in my life and the lives of those in your community. Anytime you're in my neck of the woods, there's plenty of hot coffee brewing at just about any hour of the day/night.

I own a 1986 F-150 XLT Lariat. Right now it doesn't seem like much, I've had it for a week and I'm working at getting it to run better than it does now. Previous owner had it for about 10 years, a daily driver and had to sell. He was sorry to see it go, but told me that it would be a good truck for me.

So I am starting with the basics, oil change, new plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, possibly a carb re-build cause it is acting up.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you. All the best.
