Fuel injection cleaner
Hi & Welcome, 2011RBLariat!
Techron is recommended.
Seafoam is not. There is nothing in it's MSDS to suggest it's effective (and none of those ingredients will dissolve varnish either - you need keytones for that - and there are none present).
In fact, it can raise combustion chamber temps ( burning naptha ) and the byproducts from burning the pale oil component can clog cats and fouls O2's.
Seafoam yer weedwhacker or other garden/lawn equipment. But keep it far away from the modern computer controlled, sensor-laden, closed-loop engine management system-equipped engine in yer truck.
MSDS: http://seafoamsales.com/wp-content/u...seafoam_EN.pdf
Side note: according to the MSDS, this is the exact same formula that's also in their Trans Tune product. LMAO ! Can you imagine putting this useless, potentially dangerous Coon-Poo in yer Tranny????
Same Schite, different can - Now, if THAT doesn't give you cause fer concern, I dunno what to tell ya.
good luck

The only thing that removes varnish is from the Keytone family of solvents. Seafoam contains none of the Keytones. Want to remove varnish, use Berrymans B12. Seafoam contains zero cleaners, it's a 20 viscosity pale(light) oil, naptha, and Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. If you can find pharmaceutical grade alcohol at 90%, mixed with ATF and a splash of naptha, you just made a far better cleaner than Seafoam ever could be. At least the ATF brings cleaners to the mix.

So just out of curiosity, why use it in your weedwhip if it doesnt do anything?
Ahhh. I don't, but my point is, it won't hurt it (no cats, O2's n' sich, lol). I does help remove water in the fuel - but even for that, there are other specific products without the extra additives. And naptha ignition may provide some short-term effects that, in a 2-stroke, are not harmful. They are oil-burners after all. For myself I just use Amsoil Saber at 100:1 and never have any issues requiring additional additives.
Placebo effect is in play here in my view, coupled with good (although BS) marketing - and I fully recognize that folks who drink this particular koolaid ain't gonna worry about inconsequential things like facts, lol. The motorcycle folks are big supporters - but again - relatively simple machines for the most part.
I reckon the smoke show is also big factor here in terms of perceived efficacy (pale oil uselessly burning off, not anything that was removed by the product itself). Folks will believe what they choose to....
You will not find a single manufacturer that officially endorses or specifies it's use. However, I've been told by several folks that some service departments use it just the same. Mainly below the M-D Line

Not arguin', just jawin'.
I think that Berrymans and BG44K got a bit impacted in terms of effectiveness when the Low VOC changes went into effect.
For the money Techron is a good choice - especially when it goes on sale

Never had any luck with techron... The royal purple is $16 a can... What is techron like $8??? Sometimes i bite the bullet and accept the gas price and fill up with Chevron for about 2 tanks...
Thanks
Hey thanks for the advice. I just recently got an engine flush, less than 100km ago. Do you think I'd still see gains in performance from using this product? The solvent was run through the engine instead of oil, during an oil change. Not added to the gas like Royal Purples Max Clean product. So I'm not sure if it would clean the fuel injectors themselves. Thanks
I clean air filter, MAF sensor, throttle body, change out fuel filter, add royal purple to tank with about 1/2 tank left drive for a day then fill up... I've had my truck so long i know when its not responding properly.. When its not i go through the whole process again and wahlah.. I also uplug the battery when doing it..
I run at 14city and about 16-17highway... Normally at 70-75mph... I get my best gains at around 60-65mph..
The PURE ethanol free gas is pretty good but takes 2 full tanks to notice a diiference.. Not really worth the extra .45cents a gallon..
