Default Restoring your windshield?

I have a 2015 F150 with about 148k miles and I do a lot of highway driving. My windshield has a lot of very tiny chips/abrasions. Any tips on cleaning/coating/restoring a windshield that you've had success with?

As far as the chips go- never looked into that
As far as the scratched, I used the Griots polish made for glass ( with my polisher of course )- its a pink color & comes in a smaller bottle, then I coated with Aquapel
Some folks dont like aquapel but works good for me

I have had several replaced on various cars and trucks for pitting and in one case etching by minerals in the water. Windshields are cheap (relatively), say about $150.00, installed by SafeLite. I find it is not worth the time and trouble to try to polish them out. BTW, same with trying to restore headlight covers.

Assuming you mean that price through insurance?

Last windshield I replaced on my 2010 F-150 was $505...I never turn in glass claims to insurance...they just jack your rates for every claim. But still...to answer the o.p., there really isn't any way to restore lost glass, which is what all those chips and pits are. Replacement is the only option. If you have full coverage insurance with a low comprehensive deductible, any sort of unfortunate 'accident' can befall your truck, necessitating a new windshield...

My cost for my 2004 F150 was $174.00. All out of pocket. I did not submit an insurance claim. Anyone who submits a phony accident claim is looking for trouble with their insurance company and all future ones. Those people keep records. It is not worth the risk.

A lot of insurance companies have windshield coverage, i was referring to that, not saying the vehicle was in an accident.

I'm just leery about having to cut off the old sealant with a piano wire and scratching the paint, current one is leak free, etc. guess you have to weigh all the pros and cons against how bad is the existing glass.

if youre just talking about water spots and genral build up. My method is wash, glass cleaner, and clay. water beads off it like crazy and its super clear.
