Default ceramic coating?

So is this ceramic coating as simple as waxing your truck but with a ceramic coating type of wax? would you do it again?
I'm not opposed to spending a little more if it really works, but i'm not sure i'd pay someone hundreds for it.

What are you putting it on? Do you intend to do it yourself? Personally I have never used a pure ceramic coating as I see it as something like a wax, that diminishes over time and a waste of money. JMO

There are two types of ceramic coating - the first is the one you've seen people charging hundreds to apply. The second, a newer arrival on the scene, is a hybrid ceramic.

The first one is typically professionally applied as they can be difficult to work with if you're not sure what you're doing (but don't let that stop you, they've advanced a lot for ease of use in recent years.
They last a considerable amount of time and provide excellent general protection, they cost a lot to buy, especially when compared to a wax, but they're in no way comparable to a wax except in looks (good waxes only)

The second one is basically a modern, advanced sealant 'wax' - lasts about 6 months when properly applied, just like the best waxes/combos, great for top-ups, amazingly fast to apply compared to almost anything else, this is why they cost as much as a regular wax, or sometimes up to a fancy-wax price.

Typically, if you're spending the money on the first one, you would want to do it right, as it's not cheap, and get your paint corrected before applying it (or do that yourself if you're able) and do not think that even if your truck is new that it doesn't need paint correction beforehand.

Ceramic coatings are totally worth it if it is done correctly. On my 2019 Jeep, I had Adams Graphene Ceramic applied professionally 6 months after I bought it. It is a 7 year coating. It is very labor intensive...you have to clay bar, paint correct, and do a final wipe down. Applying the coating is quick and has a UV tracer to the installer can ensure full coverage. Problem is the coating must sit for at least 4 hours in a controlled dustless environment to properly set. That is why most companies coat one day and keep the car overnight. But, my coating has been on my Jeep for 4 years and looks like the day it was applied...and I have never waxed the car. Hand wash and dry only. LOVE IT!!!

Yes, have a professional do it, they will do paint correction, buff, etc then apply a good 3-5 year ceramic coating.
Bought my wife a black 2022 Highlander, only way Id buy, is if it went to a professional dealer.
Now its done, and way easier toc lean, and has a beautiful shine.
