baked on bugs
Took an extended vacation last month and hit "tons" of bugs. Next morning went to a diy car wash and attempted to pressure spray them away. I only got the majority of them off. After a three week hot summer road trip, I have scrubbed, washed, rubbed, bought products and still I can feel them on the paint as I run my fingers over the hood and front end.
Any secrets on how to make my paint smooth again?

A Claybar should do it or you could try PS21 Paint Cleaner or CQuartz Iron X.

i use super clean its a degreaser that you can find at walmart or any auto parts store really before you spray it on your truck make sure you spray water on it then apply the super clean let it set for about 5 min and then just wash your truck as you normally do if you have a trouble spot you may have to use a little more elbow grease, i just bought a 12 and have about a 20 min drive to work and i have bugs all over the front grille and mirrors and windshield trust me it works be sure to SPRAY YOUR TRUCK WITH WATER FIRST let us know how it turns out
c32 or c34 degreaser.
i work on the rigs in middle of alberta and always use it to get the crude and wax off of the rigs. you spay this stufff on directly, and use a pressure washer WITHIN 5 mins or so. then, i wash my truck by hand with lots of soap.

Old trick...take a big soaking wet towel and lay it on your paint. Let it sit 15-30 minutes and any remaining exoskeleton and dried on guts should be gone.
Now, the bad news...dried up bug guts may have eaten into your paint.
