Gents- first off, while this forum is open source and will be free for anyone to use and enjoy, it’s not a free republic. By signing up here, you’re agreeing to abide by our Terms of Service and rules. @rcairbear I know what word was used (staff can still see deleted/ edited posts) and, while you may attempt to minimize it by showing the legitimate definition of the word, your intent and context was not of the actual definition and we both know it. You should know by now that we are not fools. You can’t pull the wool over my eyes, or anyone else’s. Your screenshot about “gay ****” hasn’t come up even once beyond your citing it. Three or four threads and nearly 100 screenshots and not one was for anything other than Amazon, Samsung viruses, gift cards, etc. I’m not implying that the fault lies with you, but as far as I can see, that one was definitely a localized popup... localized to you.

Now, this ad thing isn’t new. It’s well documented. I’ve sent around 50 screenshots to tech and I finally turned an ad blocker on my iphone. At first I didn’t think it worked until I realized that just downloading it doesn’t do anything. You actually have to tell the phone to use it. Since then, I haven’t gotten any popups on the mobile browser in two weeks.

Its being worked but sadly, this isn’t IB’s own issue. It lies within Google’s ad services and is being addressed as quickly as a third party can address it.

Lenn- im no fool either- i know what you meant, IB gets paid a great deal of money to run a series of ads- they do not screen nor consider the content-they just throw it out there ( if its localized as you claim, explain how i get the ad for a Michigan politician too). Sorry, i dont buy it.
I hope all is well for you in the mountaineer state- oh, happy birthday Lenn-

You have to remember that membership and forum traffic plays a part in their advertising pricing structure and it’s Google search result placement. If they’re “intentionally” running these ads and this has been running off members, their forum (their asset) is suffering. So no, I have no reason to believe this is intentional.

As for WV, We’ve been here for ~20 months and while I’ve met some great people, I’m chomling at the bit to get the hell out of Dodge. This just isn’t the place for us. June 2020 is very much anxiously awaited.

After a while, I might actually lose track of my actual God given birthday. Thanks!

Then give me one last explanation- Google is NOT my browser- im set up for yahoo- and, being mobile, mostly use safari ( because of the shortcut on the home screen)- again, i dont buy chevys, or motorcycles, or rent heavy equipment, nor do i want to meet a michigan politician, yet i get these ads also- i cant change google browser selections to because i dont have a google account - following the instructions in the little boxes in the corner of the ad only leads you to an account sign in,which i dont have.-
Ill take Mudder up on his offer, perhaps he can help.
Happy birthday, Lenn!

I installed NeverAds on my iPhone. I thought it wasn’t working until I realized you must go into the settings and turn it on in the “safari” section. Since then, no ads for over two weeks.

Is there ever going to be an increase in performance because I feel like the app is just worse and worse.??
I'm primarily an app user. I would love IB could actually put an update through that deals with the notifications lag. Even the reviews in the App Store corroborate my experience.

There’s another thread somewhere around here about the app but in summary, it’s largely going to be left to die on the vine. Internet Brands is transitioning all of its sites to mobile browser format only. The popups are creating an issue right now but the mobile template is a strong rekindling of the old F150Forum standalone app and when it’s not bombarded with popups (that can be mitigated with blockers), it works really well.

Why is the app no longer supported?

Because with the number of forums and sites that IB owns, having to have a separate entity develop an app was becoming cumbersome so to keep it “in house”, mobile template is the ticket. Plus, there’s more freedom of design and change on mobile over an app.

As for the popups, I installed NeverAds (free) on my iPhone. Once I turned it on, I haven’t had a popup in two weeks or more.
