Default Live Chat?

Hey guys, ever thought about having a live chat put into this forum? The motorcycle forum I belong to has one and it seems to do pretty well. Just thought I would throw it out there. Some people might think its cool could always make it worth while like having special nights where a certain topic is discussed or something like that could always find someway to make it cool.

We discussed awhile back and the mods decided that it wouldn't be a very good thing to have here.

Something about it being tacky and distracting, plus that's what private messaging is for. Private messaging doesn't allow anyone to jump into the conversation though. I thought it was a good idea. It wouldn't be as bothersome if it was off the main page.

The idea is a great one for extremely quick feedback on how to resolve a problem.
The issue is that the moderators do not really have control over what gets posted and that could lead to arguements, verbal attacks, etc. At least with posting in forums, the mods have the power to delete a thread before it starts to get out of hand.
PM'ing is alot slower form of chatting so it greatly reduces the amount of quarrels that can form and also eliminates one person interjecting unwanted babblings.

The reason we were not terribly high on this idea was because one of the great benefits of a forum is the historical information that a member can find. If we have a live chat, we are concerned that this information will be lost.

i dunno. i belong to another forum and theres still tons of posts. i would like a chat just to shoot the .... with the rest of the guys and talk bout our trucks and what not. theres times that i really wish we had one just cus itd be fun to share ideas. also it might help eliminate a few of the double posts. also i think you should see if you could limit it to having a minimum number of post before you can join in. that would eliminate the trolls.
