Issue: Is X-Plan pricing from OEM a good deal?
Certain buyers qualify for X-plan pricing on new Ford vehicle sales. It entitles the customer to a fixed markup or discount (depending on the plan you qualify for) on dealer’s invoice price plus any rebates offered at that time. Is it a good deal? The answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no. Other factors, such as available inventory, local competition, local demand for that model, can influence local car prices.
TennisFam4, a retired Ford employee, states
·Some dealers may not be showing you the real invoice in an effort to increase the sales price. The invoice the dealer should be showing you states the X-Plan prices at the bottom of the page.
·The potential savings are generally greater on higher priced vehicles, which typically have higher margins.

I got about $9000 off my new 2012 FX2 super cab with options. That was rebates, trade assist,X-plan,and $1800 less I offered. Worked for me for not settling for a 2011 leftover.

didn't I just say all the same things?
Ok guys I will try and explain this again. I am a retired Ford employee and have been dealing with the axz plan for over 30 years. There is a post somewhere on this forum with an actual copy of a invoice a dealer is required to show you if you are a plan buyer. X-plan is 2% above the dealers cost of that vehicle, A- plan is 2% below dealers cost, Z-plan is the same as A-plan but is used for retirees. The invoice the dealer should be showing you states these prices along the bottom of the page. The dealer has invoices that do not show these prices it just shows a invoice price, what price I do not know. AXZ plan purchases also includes all rebates that are offered. So if there are that's say $3000 in rebates subtract that from the AXZ plan price. A dealer may be able to beat axz plan on left over models that they need to unload. All I am saying is make sure you are seeing the real AXZ plan invoice. One more thing the more expensive the vehicle the more you save.

Now, for a short time I worked as a sales associate / consultant at our local Ford dealer, who operates on a "best price" business model. This dealer is part of an 85+ dealer group operating on a low gross, high volume model. Their "no negotiation" windshield sticker prices are always below X Pla, just a bit above A&Z Plans. They discount well into their holdback. What I learned is because they buy so many vehicles from Ford and other manufacturers they pay below published invoice when all is tabulated. The dealer's business plan shows most profits coming from F&I, used, and fixed operations. So, YES, you can get deals that beat X Plan if you shop at a dealer operating this way. But in general folks X Plan is a great deal.

SERIOUSLY . . . you resurrected a THREE YEAR OLD thread ? ?
How many pages back did it take to dig this one up?????

I'm also a Ford retiree, and what this gentleman wrote is absolutely correct. As part of the X-Plan purchase price the dealer is obligated to show you the invoice, with A,X & Z plan prices at the bottom of the page. If they are not showing you this tell them to get real, or walk to another dealer. AXZ bottom line prices will include all sales incentives, and if you finance will include those incentives as well. If you qualify for 0% financing the sales & finance incentives won't apply, but AXZ will.

Somehow I read this entire thread and still didn't "get it". So in talking with a Ford dealership this is what I was told; when using one of these alphabet plans, you get the indicated pricing plus any applicable Ford rebates. There are no additional dealer incentives involved. BUT, if the dealer happens to offer a better incentive you can choose to go that route but then you don't qualify for the alphabet discount (you can't get both).

What's the easiest way to get an X-plan PIN? I used to get it through work, but it's no longer available.
