X-Plan Pricing Sucks

I am in the market for a Ranger or a lower end F-150. I qualify for X Plan pricing but the discounts are only several hundred dollars below MSRP. I go to the Ford Partner website, I click on pricing and it will list the different truck models with X plan pricing.

An example. The XL MSRP is $22,790 and X price is $22,333. Are you serious? That is basically the same price as sticker.

How is this a deal? What am I doing wrong?

Xplan was a joke for me too. Since most dealerships give you additional cash off there is not reason to go xplan it'll cost you money in the long run cz give you the rebates but drop the additional cash they throw off. (usually)

I combined Xplan with over $5750 in rebate money, so I'm not sure what the problem is. You get essentially invoice price and rebates + anything else you are able to bargain.

The invoice price of base models is pretty close to msrp though, in contrast to the more expensive models and options...which are true money makers.

A baseline f150 should be able to be had for the high $teens though. Any reason to not go with a year old used 2011? Good luck.

It's true. At times the dealer can beat the x-plan price, especially on trucks. It's good to go to Edmunds and build the vehicle to see what the dealer cost is on some items, then compare with x-plan, then see if the dealer will sell to you for less than x-plan. Some vehicles don't have much profit in them.

Xplan for worked for me. in fact, there was an EXTRA $750 rebate for x-planners... So i got X-plan PLUS $750 off of which I would have otherwise NOT received.

Total rebates for me were $5750. I was happy.

Here's the invoice information for mine. the dealer gave me the invoice.

MSRP 30620

X 28671
D 27414
A/Z 27314

INVOICE 28610

So, X plan was -1949 off PLUS the $750 addtl for xplan usage. So that was already $2699 ALREADY OFF MSRP! just by using X-PLAN!!!

PLUS 5,000 more in rebates.

I don't see the reason for complaints about the x-plan.

So you got $7700 off mine was $35+ and i got $9k off. It was about $1500 more off than if I did the xplan. That's the complaint...

Every deal is different......works for some, some it doesn't.

Agreed, but you asked what's the complaint. I think it's dumb to offer a deal that doesn't always help. I wish it was treated like a rebate so it always worked.

Ford ain't moving too many Rangers these days...use that to your advantage. Sounds like it isn't even worth it to mess around with the X-plan.

Xplan worked for me on my '10 and my '12. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'll grab them later and post it up.
