Get a Pre-Purchase inspection by your shop of choice. They typically only cost $60 - $110 cad. Give them that list and at the end they will tell you if it's worth buying and cost of repairs.
My friend had 3 of them done while car shopping up in Canada. Best money spent, all 3 vehicles were in terrible shape, despite being told by the seller they ran perfectly.

This is the best idea I’ve heard yet. It protects the buyer the most.
