Full service via satellite for cell service is not far away.

I think what we have arrived at now will be with us for several years to come. Spotify, pandora and such will continue and improve. Thumb drives, cell phones and satellite.

Does Pandora not let you download music too?
Like SCORGE said. I paid $5 for a month of Pandora Premium for my desktop. Some kind of promotion. Do you know how much Pandora you can download on-line in a month?

A lot. That is my backup.

Back on topic. I was hoping that we had a gearhead sound engineer or someone working on advanced audio services on the forum. How about eliminating speakers, for one idea? Feasible or pie in the sky? Who knows.

Many of today's motorists won't even know what an eight-track is, but that was the first item to disappear before the next-generation audio cassettes that replaced the eight-track were also done away with by the CD player. CD players have now been almost eliminated by hard-drives, USB storage and Bluetooth streaming, and did anyone actually notice when aerials became a thing of the past?

This new Ac2ated Sound system, unveiled last year, has been developed by an audio component supplier called Continental AG, and it's based on the principles of stringed instruments and relies on a small transducer made up of a magnet wrapped in a copper coil. This transducer then generates micro-vibrations from electrical energy, but rather than a conventional oscillating membrane currently found in speakers, this new component uses larger and existing interior components to radiate the sound to deliver high-fidelity audio.

The 8 Track slot in my new F150 is not big enough to fit my 8 tracks. Any ideas?

I would be that self-professed gearhead sound engineer who quit because of all the arguing and people throwing out my advice for shortcuts and wrongways. Same thing happened on a Ranger forum. I use to head Crutchfield's online audio forum until they discontinued it. I daily drive my Ranger because no F150 stock audio comes close to it's custom sound.

Please, show us the way, oh wise one.

Car audio is something I've never delved into a lot. Down here, a custom sound system is a massive subwoofer used to rattle off your body panels.

Are you saying you somehow play your old 8 track tapes in your new F150? You're kidding right!

Well, LOL, looks like 2018 Reg Cab hooked one.

Being a new truck, the 8-Track slot is just a little tight. I recommend tapping it in with a 3 pound sledge.

Yeah, that will do it.

And for Uncle G, what do you think of that speaker elimination new tech?

Next? Maybe some sort of custom channel that only plays the music you like...think Pandora, but with an intelligent twist that adapts. I don't know...

Not looking forward to self driving vehicles but if it's the only choice? By that time I imagine we will have 3D hologram images to display live concert front and center with total surround sound.
