What year is this? and does it fit?
So if you have just a bare cab could you id what generation it is? There's no vin numbers on it. It's either the late 80's-91 or the 92+ but without a front clip it's hard to tell. The truck isn't "normal".

You can see it's got the 3rd tail light cut out so I'm assuming it's not the older 80's cab.
If mounting locations isn't a concern do you know if say a '89 front clip and fenders would line up with a '92+ cab and vice versa? Do the body lines all line up if the mounting doesn't matter?

I don't think that's a 3rd brake light cutout. That is a cargo light cutout. Most trucks had them but not all. The 3rd brake light wasn't there until '94 and I don't think those colors were available in '94. You could see if the headlight dimmer switch was mounted to the floor by the e-brake. If there was one mounted, you have a pre-92 truck if not, 92-93. If there is a rectangle cutout on the lower driverside firewall (possibly with a stud above and below) then you have a post 86 truck, no cutout-pre 86. IIRC, the front clips are interchangable with a little work.
That's what I was thinking as well, hadn't seen any pictures anywhere of that color combo on the '90s F150s but I'm far from an F150 expert.
Thanks for that info, I wasn't aware of that but it makes sense for sure! You can see it has the imprint of having a shell on the cab at one point for sure so that being a cargo light is definitely 100% possible.
I'll have to see if I can find these details tonight. The way the firewall was cut out and rebuilt part of that stuff was covered up with a floor plate. The details may still be there though, I just need to check and see.

That's the key info I'm looking for right there in all honesty!!!!
Thanks!!!! That helps me a bit as well!
I actually was hoping it was going to be a late 80's/early 90's cab cause that's the front clip I would prefer to run and it seems like all the signs are leading that way anyways. I was mostly asking because if it was a '92+ cab I was going to try and put the older front clip on it and was hoping the body lines would line up.
Thanks a ton for the advice and info!!! I definitely appreciate it! It should end up to be a pretty fun and good looking toy when all said and done!

Thanks for the reply! Any idea where? I actually spent some time under the truck looking on Sat for any vins possibly on the frame rails but came up empty handed. There's no frame rails behind the cab so if they were back there I'm SOL... (see 2nd picture above) Not to mention I know for a fact this is not the cab that originally came on this frame.
Edit: If anyone knows, I'd still be interested in knowing where they can be found if they are on the front portion of the frame at least.

I saw the numbers on a Dodge van in the 70's. As I recall, it was near the front, on the side of the frame just behind the front suspension. But that was long time ago. Just be sure that the VIN you use matches the vehicle you said it was.
If the cab is different, and the frame has been changed, what difference does it make what it was? If you are trying to register it, use the vintage of the cab. Who would know the difference?
Several years ago I met a fellow who drove a Dodge 2500. After talking for a few minutes, and me studying his truck, I asked:
"How come your 3/4 ton does not have 3/4 ton tires?"
He claimed that in BC, if you towed a trailer over 26 feet, or some similar length, the law required you to have a 3/4 ton. So he changed the number on his 1500 to 2500 and went through two inspections, with no problems.
I didn't know about the rule, and was amazed that a person whose job it was to do the inspections, didn't notice what I did as a casual item of conversation.

I googled FORD VIN LOCATIONS, and come up with some hits. One of which is a forum with photos. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...locations.html
