The Ultimate MPG thread.
I swear, with the way I drive, in town, I'm getting 10 mpg at the best in my 2002 5.4L. I haven't done any calculations to find out for sure, but today I drove approx 20 miles and I think the needle moved less than when I drive 2 miles through town.
Picked up my new Super Crew EB with 3.55 today. On the way home I only got 15 MPG with cruise set anywhere from 75 to 78 mph. Display showed 16.1 mpg. This was 300 miles of pure hwy mileage. Some people are posting up really good numbers and thought I would get better myself. Oh well, I hope the numbers go up as it breaks in.
A long-time Toyota buyer here, and just bought my first American-badged vehicle in 7 years.
Drove to San Diego to pick up my "new" 2010 F-150 FX4 Supercrew 4x4. It's got a 6" Pro Comp lift kit and 35" Toyo tires...on the drive back to Yuma I was expecting about 13-14 MPG and at one point was at 10.9! When I drove it to Phoenix yesterday I did some "tests"...at 75 mph on the speedometer (which was actually 81 mph) I got 10.6, at 70 I got 12 mpg, at 65 ( got 13.5 and at 60 I got 16.5.
I'm new to this forum and have read with interest some of you long-time Ford owners' solutions to getting better gas mileage...just seems counterintuitive to buy a beast like this and then have to hypermile to get remotely acceptable gas mileage.
I sold my '09 Tundra 4x4 Crewmax Rock Warrior in April because of the crappy gas mileage, and it turns out it was better than my new F-150!

Now what?

On another note, mileage improved for me (and many others on here) once the engine was broken in. You'll get better mileage if you keep it below 70 in any case.
Cheers,
