Tornado Performance Booster?
I was driving with a friend & asked him why his engine was whistling...he said it was the Tornado giving him MAD mpg benefits & argued with me about it for quite some time.
6 months later we were driving in his car again after he had an engine rebuild...no whistle. When I asked about that, it turns out a chunk of it came off & went through the intake tract.
He was no longer arguing the benefits of the Tornado.

The Tornado gimmick was and is just that....a gimmick. Back in the old days, 1953, I saw a demo that supposedly demonstrated how the little fan made the engine perform better.A car was set up with a rotating plate that could be inserted between the carb and intake manifold. One side of the plate had the little fans installed; the other was straight through.
With the engine at idle the demonstrator flipped the plate handle and lo-and-behold!!! When the little fans were under the carb the engine ran smooth-as-silk. When the straight-through part was under the carb the engine sputtered and threatened to shut down. That really said something for the little fans.....or so it appeared.
The demonstrator shut down the engine at the end of the demo, but left the little fans under the carb. I noticed a wisp of vapor coming out of the side of the plate. The SOB had set up the carb idle to super rich and the fan side of the plate had an air bleeder hole to compensate.
When I pointed that out, the demonstrator packed up quickly and left town.
